Russia wants Google to stop repressing media’s YouTube channels
MOSCOW, Mar 21 (PRIME) -- The Russian communications service has requested that Google immediately lift all the restrictions from YouTube channels of the country’s media and resources, the watchdog said on March 19 on Telegram.
“We call on Google again to stop any limitations on platform YouTube on Russian media and resources immediately, ensure unobstructed access of the Russian users to information in compliance with the existing Russian law. We remind you of the measures of technological remedies against Internet platforms stipulated by the law,” the authority said.
Google’s video hosting YouTube was turned into a tool of the anti-Russia information war. The regulator said that YouTube has repeatedly censored the channels of Russian media, public figures, performance groups, and sports teams, among others.
The watchdog said it had registered 54 cases of YouTube restrictions against Russian channels.
